OUGD405: Studio Brief 02 - Design Process - Information Design (Research)

DRINK DRIVING

Based upon the study task 3, where I analysed the public information video about drink driving and the potential consequences, this brief expands from that by setting the task of creating a information leaflet about your chosen video.

Looking into facts about drink driving was my first port of call, as this would give me my content that would potentially be used within my leaflet.

Few examples of these are below:

Initial thoughts were that the one thing most of these information leaflets have in common is that they put emphasis on the more important part of each statistic e.g. 1 in 3, 1 in 5 etc.

Although doing this attracts the readers eye more so than it all being the same size, it in't alarming enough necessarily to all readers, since it's a common feature within most infographics and more often than not people will glance over it.

I felt that creating a bit more of a scaremongering leaflet, whilst still retaining the informative aspect of it would be much more effective in informing people of the dangers and consequences of drink driving.

Although these are poster advertisements, harnessing the element of fear within these and combining it with relevant statistics, I feel would be much more effective in deterring people from even considering drink driving, let alone drink driving in the first place and instead choosing a safer option.
