The first three designs are a reference to the stereo phasing effects he used within his music creating a 3D sound. This doubles up as the strings of a guitar further subtly incorporating his methods of music production.
The 4th design is the ‘diabolus in musica’ otherwise known as flatted fifth isolated by noise. Playing on the idea of the rumour of rock stars selling their soul to the devil.
During a crit I recieved feedback off a number of students. The feedback suggested that I work on combining the compositions in some way, almost as if to create a series of the same styled designs but with different visual concepts. The grunge effect of the 1st and 3rd 3D visual works as a way of communicating distortion, whilst the 4th design works in isolation as a means of emphasising the flatted 5th chord.
