Brief 3: Further ideas & feedback

Following on from previous ideas of basing her branding on the manipulative side of her photography work, I explored a different route of ideas. The ideas were focused more on the contrast within her photos be that through intersecting line, colour or shapes. That coupled with the layering within her photographs that give them depth, made for the potential of a range of compositions seen below.

I also thought about physically manipulating her collateral e.g. a business card in the same way she does her photographs.

An idea came about to have multiple layers that make up her business cards, whether this be 2/3 layers stuck together of translucent stock or physically have three business cards come together to form one business card as shown below. When seen from front on, this would create a different composition as each printed card would be different to the other so when they come together would form a unique composition.

The stock could be difficult to be printed on by a digital printer as it's a plastic. As an alternative screenprinting could be an option.

Feedback from Hilda:

- The final idea (multiple business cards) works as these levels of depth are usually created when she physically manipulates her own photos.
- Potential of going into curation so doesn't necessarily wanted to be labelled as just a photographer on her business card. So the identity works as it doesn't tie her down to just one role.
- One issue is, if the business cards are done by hand is there a possibility to easily reproduce these in the future if/ when she runs out?
- This idea works as she isn't confident with self-promotion/ networking, so hopefully the unique business cards will generate some conversation around her. Also with the business cards coming in a set of three potentially; it gives way for distribution of the remaining two cards in the pack.
