OUGD404: Studio Brief 2 - What is a Book? (Content)

The content of the publication is something we both equal input on in terms of what went into the book. Given that we're both massively into technology, we both already had a good idea of what we wanted to include but through the likes of watching Youtube videos and looking through posts on Kickstarter. We wanted the tech to be a mix of up and coming tech and also existing useful and cheap tech.

List of Final Products:

Fotokite Phi & Pro
Helix bike
Ehang 184
Sensel Morph
Sliden'Joy
Wonder Cube
Pivot Power
Here Active Listening
The Ampl Smart Bag
Hudway Glass
Sony SRS-XII

One thing we aimed to do with the content of the publication was to make it personal and informal, very much our own opinions and views on each one of the tech products. Given that at the time of cracking down to get our publication pieced together and designed, we were both away from University we figured we had to split the work up as we both wouldn't be able to work on the publication at the same time. So to resolve this I worked on the paragraphs, images and the overall main content of the publication whilst Matt focused on designing and organisation of the content. Although we both worked on separate parts we both had an equal say in the content wording and also the design using the likes of Facetime and social media messaging.

An example of the tone of voice we were going for:

The AMPL Smart Bag - 'Now some of you may be thinking that this is just “another overpriced bag with portable phone chargers”; however, you'd be very wrong indeed. The smart backpack actually allows you to charge and monitor your gear on the go, whilst keeping the contents dry and safe with it's shock absorbing sole and water resistant fabric. Even after you've crammed the whole of PC world into it, there's still plenty of space left for the remainder of your items, be that clothes, avocados, sloths or whatever takes your fancy. It's witbout doubt the best backpack out there."
